Kaiser Chiefs Tour Diary Final leg – Birmingham and Plymouth

If there is anything I have learnt this week it is that Plymouth is a long way from Leeds, but it’s a pretty good place to play a gig.  Anyway, Birmingham welcomed us early on Friday evening but it didn’t stop the hordes from making their way in which was great.  Someone had deposited a fairly frightening pornographic magazine in our dressing room toilet and much hilarity followed with our crew cutting out their favourite shots from “40 and over” and sneaking it into the band’s bags, coat pockets, or putting it on a wall and drawing Vijay’s face on it. Don’t ask what the beard was…

I forgot to mention we got to see this awesome keyboard in Derby!

The Wasp

That blew our tiny minds for a long time. Plymouth Pavilions on Saturday was enormous…Look!!!

And the crowd was incredible! Additionally the other support band All the Young dedicated a song to us to say goodbye, what lovely chaps. We have had such a great response on this tour it’s been quite humbling.  We sold 900 tour cds and vinyls which was pretty nuts, and we’ve been treated really well by all the crew, bands and venue staff.  We even got Champagne from Kaiser Chiefs on the last date…

So to say we’re charmed is an understatement.  I’m pretty sure we’ll return to all the places we’ve been fairly soon, most likely this year. So thanks to everyone who has come, we’ve got our own bit of touring starting this week which is proper good and what not…

Club Smith - Lee, Sam, Vijay, Neil

Kaiser Chiefs - Peanut, Ricky, Simon, Nick, Whitey

Our Next York gig – Discount

Wowzers, our gig at City Screen tonight was totally wick.

We have another gig in York coming up…it’s a festival on bank holiday weekend in Crayke near York…check it out on the link below:

http://www.galtresfestival.org.uk/

The Charlatans are playing our day. Sweeeeeet. Anyone have their album Wonderland and think it was AMAZING? I did.

Anyway you can get in cheaper for the weekend or day tickets by entering a discount code when you pay for your ticket. The discount code is:

CLUBSMITH1234

And if you buy a ticket entering that code we get a bit added to our fee. It’s like when you pay something to charity out of your salary, except we’re not really a charity, and you’re not getting paid anything, and you’re actually paying for something instead, so it’s not really like that actually.  But it kind of is.

Go get a ticket!

Club Smith at some festivals

Holla,

Is that how you spell it? Club Smith are playing some festivals starting next week. AW SWEET! Here they are:

Live at Leeds – Saturday 30th April

This is a festival across the city of Leeds. It’s AWESOME.  We play the Faversham at 6pm. Plus two days later there is a Live at Leeds 5 a side tournament which sounds epic. We’re in a team made up of The Faversham promoters and a band called the Officers and All Sorted Records. Nice. We’ll lose. But the gig will be amazing!

Tickets £17.50 from www.liveatleeds.com

Liverpool Sound City – Friday 20th May

Alright Alright calm down. We’re only playing Liverpool’s own city festival.  We’re playing The Masque Ink on the Friday. Apparently Peter Hook is a key note speaker for this festival’s conference thing.  I once met Peter Hook at a songwriters thing for the BBC. I asked him what his favourite song he’d been involved in writing was, and he said he didn’t know, and I suggested World in Motion, and he didn’t like that. We ended on great terms though, he liked my music.

GREAT STORY.

Tickets and info from www.liverpoolsoundcity.co.uk

Play Fest – Saturday 28th May – Norwich

Well our Norwich gig with the Pigeon Detectives was fairly insane so hoping this is just as good. It’s a new festival in Norwich featuring Futureheads, Frank Turner, Darwin Deez, Little Comets and more.  We’re on the main stage at 2pm.

More info and tickets at www.playfest.co.uk

Keighley Rock and Rail – Sunday 12th June

We are pretty excited about this gig. It’s a festival set across a railway route…the vintage one in Haworth. So you can come and have new age fun with a vintage feel! Oh yes. We’re actually playing on a train…a moving train. A moving train, with us playing on it. I have no idea how it will work but it sounds ridiculous and perfect.

Tickets from http://www.rockandrail.co.uk

Kendal Calling – Friday 29th July

Don’t need to say a lot about this apart from…we’re playing the same day as House of Pain. That’s all I need to say. How awesome. We’re playing the Calling out stage, late afternoon time, oh and it won small festival of the year last year. I kept on saying stuff didn’t I. Still typing now in fact.

Awesome lineup and tickets at www.kendalcalling.co.uk

Galtres Feestival, Crayke, York – Sunday 28th August

Woo! A festival near York! Plus the Charlatans are playing too! Sweet!

New gigs: London/Leeds/York – supporting TSU in york+Hudds…

ey up.  have you heard boy band “The Wanted”‘s single “all time low”?  It features the lyric:  ”When I’m standing on the yellow line, Waiting at the station, Or I’m late for work, A vital presentation”.

A vital presentation at work? In a song lyric?   The world must have got very boring for a band to make reference to a vital presentation at work.  It’s ironic the name of the song really, as that lyric is pretty much an all time low for cultural undertakings of the 21st century.  That doesn’t even make any sense but I’m leaving that statement in there.

Anyway before I let a rant get hold of me, I’ve some Club Smith gigs to announce;

Sat 13th November: A Nation of Shopkeepers, Leeds.  £3.  Last Leeds headline of 2010.  FACEBOOK EVENT

Tues 23rd November: Buffalo Bar, London. (onstage 9pm).  FACEBOOK EVENT £5 door I think. Tickets at www.clubfandango.co.uk

Thurs 2nd December: Fibbers, York. Main support to the Sunshine Underground.  VERY Exciting.  Tickets £12 from HERE – Get them fast there is no Leeds leg on their tour and they sold out the Academy last time in Leeds…this will sell out FAST.

Fri 3rd December: Tokyos, Huddersfield supporting the Sunshine Underground.

These  gigs should be so ace.

1:22 in…I’m not messing.
