Norwich Gig / Diy

Hey,

Thisisfakediy.co.uk have premièred our new video HERE.  Nice!

We’re back in Norich this weekend, playing the epic studios which is where the Wright Stuff is filmed I’m told. Pretty surreal, but apparently it’s a venue too…should be interesting. Get tickets HERE for a mere £5.  And check out the all sorted twitter account for many a deal/free ticket or such like…you can catch up with them HERE.

New Single / More Gigs

Well, our new single got a play from Tom Robinson on 6music again last night.   I was confused to think it would be tomorrow what with it being early morning but I misunderstood that when the clock strikes midnight we are thus attending Sunday, so I missed it.  But tis on the iplayer fear not.

Anyway, you can hear the new single right here:

Call To Harm by club smith

Aggressive isn’t it. God we are SO angry.  Most practice sessions are ruined by outrageous outbursts, mainly because Lee doesn’t seem to understand the vital relationship between the sugar and the stir when it comes to making a good cup of tea. It makes my blood boil.  One day, he may learn, but until then the music’s probably going to be right knarky.

So, we’re going to be ridiculous busy now till the end of the year, which should take the edge off the ridicule I invite in other areas of my life.  We’re writing an album and then we’ll record it, and we’re also touring this single…which is out on 7th November on All Sorted !?! Records on itunes and ting.  It’s a record label we are very close to, the man who runs it drove us around on tour with Pigeon Detectives until we had to leave him in Bristol because of his suffering from absurd food poisoning.  We shoved him into a travelodge like a stray dog at the pound and then wiped down everything he touched with disinfectant. That’s love for you. Surprised he still talks to us.

Here’s the tour…we’re adding dates to it all the time…yeay!

Club Smith at some festivals

Holla,

Is that how you spell it? Club Smith are playing some festivals starting next week. AW SWEET! Here they are:

Live at Leeds – Saturday 30th April

This is a festival across the city of Leeds. It’s AWESOME.  We play the Faversham at 6pm. Plus two days later there is a Live at Leeds 5 a side tournament which sounds epic. We’re in a team made up of The Faversham promoters and a band called the Officers and All Sorted Records. Nice. We’ll lose. But the gig will be amazing!

Tickets £17.50 from www.liveatleeds.com

Liverpool Sound City – Friday 20th May

Alright Alright calm down. We’re only playing Liverpool’s own city festival.  We’re playing The Masque Ink on the Friday. Apparently Peter Hook is a key note speaker for this festival’s conference thing.  I once met Peter Hook at a songwriters thing for the BBC. I asked him what his favourite song he’d been involved in writing was, and he said he didn’t know, and I suggested World in Motion, and he didn’t like that. We ended on great terms though, he liked my music.

GREAT STORY.

Play Fest – Saturday 28th May – Norwich

Well our Norwich gig with the Pigeon Detectives was fairly insane so hoping this is just as good. It’s a new festival in Norwich featuring Futureheads, Frank Turner, Darwin Deez, Little Comets and more.  We’re on the main stage at 2pm.

More info and tickets at www.playfest.co.uk

Keighley Rock and Rail – Sunday 12th June

We are pretty excited about this gig. It’s a festival set across a railway route…the vintage one in Haworth. So you can come and have new age fun with a vintage feel! Oh yes. We’re actually playing on a train…a moving train. A moving train, with us playing on it. I have no idea how it will work but it sounds ridiculous and perfect.

Kendal Calling – Friday 29th July

Don’t need to say a lot about this apart from…we’re playing the same day as House of Pain. That’s all I need to say. How awesome. We’re playing the Calling out stage, late afternoon time, oh and it won small festival of the year last year. I kept on saying stuff didn’t I. Still typing now in fact.

Awesome lineup and tickets at www.kendalcalling.co.uk

Galtres Feestival, Crayke, York – Sunday 28th August

Woo! A festival near York! Plus the Charlatans are playing too! Sweet!

hey sam…what could possibly go wrong?

I’m a tired and drained young man.

Had an amazing weekend playing the academy with the sunshine underground and playing norwich with the lines…here’s a pic from an awesome photographer ed fielding who was at the academy in Leeds…

It was brilliant to see the sunshine undergound sound SO damn good after us. their live set has got ridiculously big sounding.

So next day we head off to Norwich to do a gig promoted by Dudley from all sorted who is putting out the loss EP with us.  Great gig, supporting the lines from wolves who invited neil, vijay and lee on for some kind of drum wig out at the end.

I decided to take my dad’s micra instead of driving down in my own car to this gig.  Ironically this was because I thought it would be more reliable.  At about 1.30am on the drive back just outside kings lynn the lights on the micra just started to fade, along with the dashboard lights.  Then the seatbelt light started flashing at me. Pulled over and then the car just died.  It started again 5 minutes later but died again, we managed to roll it into a petrol station forecourt though.

It took about an hour and a half to convince the RAC I was driving a car with a valid membership, and then it wasn’t until about 4am that a mechanic with a truck came…checked the engine, told us the problem and then drove off because the RAC didn’t want to use him to take us home. It was 6.45am when a truck finally turned up to take us home, but that got caught in snow and we didn’t make it back till 1pm having had zero sleep being sat in the car all night with it about -4 outside.

HOW? WHY ME?  I’ve now been in 3 breakdowns and 1 crash involved with music in some way in the last 2 years. I’m pretty sure I’m not doing anything wrong!   I think the low point was when I told someone at the RAC they had broken the very fabric of my soul and she took it personally so I had to actually tell her I thought she was “OK”.

Here are some of the pictures of the ordeal:

This is where we stayed the night.
