Our Next York gig – Discount

Wowzers, our gig at City Screen tonight was totally wick.

We have another gig in York coming up…it’s a festival on bank holiday weekend in Crayke near York…check it out on the link below:

http://www.galtresfestival.org.uk/

The Charlatans are playing our day. Sweeeeeet. Anyone have their album Wonderland and think it was AMAZING? I did.

Anyway you can get in cheaper for the weekend or day tickets by entering a discount code when you pay for your ticket. The discount code is:

CLUBSMITH1234

And if you buy a ticket entering that code we get a bit added to our fee. It’s like when you pay something to charity out of your salary, except we’re not really a charity, and you’re not getting paid anything, and you’re actually paying for something instead, so it’s not really like that actually.  But it kind of is.

Go get a ticket!

New Video – No Friend of Mine

Well, we’ve been really excited about this for a long while now…here’s the new video for our Single “No Friend of Mine”

I don’t want to say too much about how it was made just yet, but it involved 3 months training 5 days a week, full on ‘method acting’ I suppose. It’s filmed by Grizzly Bros. who are Danny North and Tim Blackwell. Hope you like it.

Worth mentioning we got some amazing support in making this video from York Boxing Club. So huge thanks to everyone there especially Lewis Gell and Pat. Check them out at www.yorkboxingclub.co.uk

Club Smith at some festivals

Holla,

Is that how you spell it? Club Smith are playing some festivals starting next week. AW SWEET! Here they are:

Live at Leeds – Saturday 30th April

This is a festival across the city of Leeds. It’s AWESOME.  We play the Faversham at 6pm. Plus two days later there is a Live at Leeds 5 a side tournament which sounds epic. We’re in a team made up of The Faversham promoters and a band called the Officers and All Sorted Records. Nice. We’ll lose. But the gig will be amazing!

Tickets £17.50 from www.liveatleeds.com

Liverpool Sound City – Friday 20th May

Alright Alright calm down. We’re only playing Liverpool’s own city festival.  We’re playing The Masque Ink on the Friday. Apparently Peter Hook is a key note speaker for this festival’s conference thing.  I once met Peter Hook at a songwriters thing for the BBC. I asked him what his favourite song he’d been involved in writing was, and he said he didn’t know, and I suggested World in Motion, and he didn’t like that. We ended on great terms though, he liked my music.

GREAT STORY.

Tickets and info from www.liverpoolsoundcity.co.uk

Play Fest – Saturday 28th May – Norwich

Well our Norwich gig with the Pigeon Detectives was fairly insane so hoping this is just as good. It’s a new festival in Norwich featuring Futureheads, Frank Turner, Darwin Deez, Little Comets and more.  We’re on the main stage at 2pm.

More info and tickets at www.playfest.co.uk

Keighley Rock and Rail – Sunday 12th June

We are pretty excited about this gig. It’s a festival set across a railway route…the vintage one in Haworth. So you can come and have new age fun with a vintage feel! Oh yes. We’re actually playing on a train…a moving train. A moving train, with us playing on it. I have no idea how it will work but it sounds ridiculous and perfect.

Tickets from http://www.rockandrail.co.uk

Kendal Calling – Friday 29th July

Don’t need to say a lot about this apart from…we’re playing the same day as House of Pain. That’s all I need to say. How awesome. We’re playing the Calling out stage, late afternoon time, oh and it won small festival of the year last year. I kept on saying stuff didn’t I. Still typing now in fact.

Awesome lineup and tickets at www.kendalcalling.co.uk

Galtres Feestival, Crayke, York – Sunday 28th August

Woo! A festival near York! Plus the Charlatans are playing too! Sweet!

dog lovers

Ask Vijay what his album of 2010 was and he gets a really serious face and says ‘Lonewolf’ really quickly.  I tend to agree that it is well wick and pretty awesome too. So, using the amazing website that is bandcamp I can post the whole album here for you to listen to. If all the people that visit this site went and bought this album we could make Lonewolf a THOUSANDAIRE.  Better than donating to PDSA?

I’ve just realised that I can create a wolf theme to this post. What is accepted as the opposite kind of wolf to a lonewolf? A wolf gang? Funny I should say that…to myself, but in public, in a weird way…because the main support in Tuesday’s Club Smith gig where we are first on supporting the Naked and Famous are WOLF GANG. The singer is very smart, check it out…

What a smartly dressed swine. There’s kind of an Adam Ant thing going on in his face for me. Am I being mental?

The thing is, these two artists are wolf related, but they’re not really wolves are they. I could maybe believe it more if they went, perhaps half way, like saying they were “WOLF PEOPLE” or something…

What a shocking link, anyway me, Neil and Vijay went to see Wolf People last week in Leeds and they were awesome. Vijay described them as “Rifftastic”. They truly are…check them out below…

Playlist by wolfpeople

I have now run out of wolf related bands to discuss. Which is probably a good thing as trying to link them was getting embarrassing.

Next gig – cheaper tickets – supporting the naked and famous

Hey, on 1st March we support this band at Fibbers, York:

Awesome man! They are wicked, and were on the BBC Sound of 2011 pole so the institution thinks they are wicked too. Sweet!

We’ve got some tickets to sell, if you buy them from us on the link below we’ll send them out free, and you won’t have a booking fee, so it’s a better deal then normal ticketing outlets…just come see us when we’re on at about 8pm!

Next Gig – supporting I like trains – Friday 11th Feb

We’ve been treated next week, because we’re supporting two of the best leeds bands/artists about in York.

WHAMMY!

Headline are I like trains – they’re fully awesome, last time I saw them was at the brudenell social club in Leeds and I can confirm they’re all way hunky.  They’ve been all over Europe since, and drop in at The Duchess in York touring the new album…the first single of which is ace…check it out below:

Share it! Share it! go on!

And main support (we’re first on…get there early!) is Napoleon IIIrd.   This song is a bit old (he has a new album out) but this is the one I know best, it’s about work being crap or some junk…and it’s mint!

Napoleon IIIrd – Hit Schmooze For Me from Brainlove on Vimeo.

We are on first, so early doors…and you can get tickets from HERE
